The Jamaica Stock Exchange is the principal stock exchange of Jamaica. It is known as the ''JSE''. It was founded in 1968 in Kingston, Jamaica and its current chairman is Mr. Allan Lewis and its General Manager is Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest. ==History== The four founding members were: - Mr Willard Samms - Annett & Company Limited - Mr Raglan S Golding - Capital Market Services (Ja) Ltd - Mr Edward E Gayle - Edward Gayle & Company Ltd - Mr Anthony Lloyd - Pitfield Mckay Ross & Co Ltd. The Stock Market, which was initially known as the "Kingston Stock Exchange" commenced stock trading operations on Monday 3 February 1969 as restricted to Broker-members who traded both as agents and as principals. In 1989 the JSE founded a subsidiary, the Jamaica Central Securities Depository to facilitate electronic transfer and settlement of securities traded across the floor of the Exchange. Services later expanded to include registrar, transfer and paying agency. In 2008 the JCSD founded a subsidiary, JCSD Trustee Services Limited to provide trustee services to investors in a variety of securities. On June 3rd, 2008 the Jamaica Stock Exchange demutualized and listed on its own Exchange. On 14 October 2014, it was announced that the Jamaica Stock Exchange became the 16th announced member of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative.
